About

Copywriter, Public Relations Professional, Communications Expert, English Teacher. Basically, I’m someone who likes words. And knows how to use them.

I love to help people and brands sell their products and promote their key messages with the power of well-written words.

Originally from the UK, I started my career as an English teacher in Hong Kong, where I got to indulge both my love for grammar (albeit with a reluctant audience) and my love for travel.

Three years later, I returned to the UK, cutting my teeth as a public relations professional in the character-building London media industry and trying not to cry as journalists hung up on me. In 2009, I landed in Melbourne, where I continued my PR career before spreading my wings into the broader marketing mix, incorporating copywriting, content production, and social media.

Over the course of my 15 plus years in communications, I’ve worked in-house for big Australian brands and smaller not-for-profits, as well as a number of UK-based PR and marketing agencies. This wide variety has given me experience on both sides of the fence in a whole range of industries.

It’s fair to say I love writing

I have a degree in English Language and Literature, along with further qualifications in copywriting, strategic communications, and teaching English as a foreign language. Writing has always been a big passion of mine (if you managed to read that without experiencing an involuntary eyeroll then I salute you) and few things bring me greater pleasure than putting the finishing touches to a piece of content that hits the mark.

I’ve been told that I’m flexible, accommodating and easy to work with. Ultimately, I’m creating your content and I want you to be happy with it, so I will work with you until the results meet or exceed your expectations.

Outside of writing, I spend time trying not to be exhausted by my seven year old twins, reading (or at least buying books I plan to read one day when I have more time), and challenging myself through running and high-intensity exercise. And drinking coffee. Lots of coffee.

Ongoing Learning

Thanks to the internet and the dawn of eCommerce, the digital space is rapidly evolving - which means that copywriting is constantly evolving alongside it. To keep up with the cool crowd, I've completed courses from the following institutions:

  • RMIT University

  • Australian Writers' Centre

  • Australian School of Copywriting

  • Communication and Public Relations Australia
